基因数目是有限的，而生命过程是极端复杂的。生物是如何利用有限的基因，赋予生命体近乎无限的可能性的呢？这其中，选择性拼接是一个重要的机制。AsManDB是为了方便系统的研究选择性拼接这一现象而设立的数据库。

AsMamDB is a database aiming to facilitate the systematic study on alternatively spliced genes of mammal. Version 1.0 of AsMamDB contains 1563 alternatively spliced genes of human, mouse and rat. The main information provided by AsMamDB includes gene's alternative splicing patterns, their structures, locations in chromosome, their products and tissues where they express. The collected 4204 DNAs, 3977 mRNAs, 8989 CDSs, 126931 ESTs have covered >130000 Entries of GenBank and given links to 4443 records of MEDLINE. The web-based multiple alignment tool Asalign and various category lists are also provided for researchers who interests in the study of mechanism of alternative splice and pharmaceutics.
