A crucial
aim upon the completion of the human genome is the verification and
functional annotation of all predicted genes and their protein products.
Here we describe the mapping of peptides derived from accurate
interpretations of protein tandem mass spectrometry (MS) data to
eukaryotic genomes and the generation of an expandable resource for
integration of data from many diverse proteomics experiments.
Furthermore, we demonstrate that peptide identifications obtained from
high-throughput proteomics can be integrated on a large scale with the
human genome. This resource could serve as an expandable repository for
MS-derived proteome information. 人类基因组项目完成的一个根本目的是对所有预测的基因及其蛋白产物的辨识与功能注释。本文中我们描述了通过蛋白质串联质谱的准确注释数据所得到的肽段与真核生物基因组之间的对应关系,以及用于集成来源于多种不同蛋白质组学试验的数据的可扩展资源的生成。而且,我们演示了从高通量蛋白质组技术中获取的肽段标识可以与人类基因组进行大规模集成。这种资源可以用作质谱产生的蛋白质组信息的可扩展的知识库。
