EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

PURPOSE:
• Work closely with Marketing Manager on strategy development, marketing plan execution for APM product line (Microbial Identification Products/Food Pathogen Detection Products/Animal Health Products etc) within country, ensuring these maps to country specific customer needs and requirements
• To provide deep, ongoing analysis and understanding of China applied markets which focusing on quality & safety testing including microbial identification in Pharma QA/QC, food pathogen detection, animal health etc and applied product segments, and our customers.
• To provide high-level technical & product knowledge and expertise to support sales team to facilitate competitive success.
• To be a technical product champion through preparation of sales tools, delivery of seminars, demonstrations & active participation in the selling process.
• Manage product line portfolio – including stock level control, up to date quote information, revenue forecasting with sales/marketing management
• To identify opportunities through market research, business/market development to drive growth and increase market presence within the Pharma /Food Safety/ Quality Testing/Animal Health sectors.

Position Scope:
• This role is equally focused on driving sales revenue by field sales engagement and developing/executing product line marketing plan in alignment with the country marketing and business plan
• Act as a primary interface between territory field operations and APM marketing in the provision of knowledge, skills and resources to enable business development and growth.
• Works closely with Marketing Manager to identify market opportunities, drive sales, and ensure the field is adequately updated with product knowledge to function efficiently and effectively.
• Act as the primary source for technical information regarding products and applications in the areas of expertise
• To interacts with field sales, sales managers, marketing manager and application support staff throughout the region to identify market opportunities, drive sales, and maintain relationships in key accounts

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing:
• Preparation of strategic marketing plan for specific product lines or market segment in cooperation with Country Marketing Manager
• Revisions to marketing campaign plan to be made quarterly
• Ensure alignment of marketing plan execution with other product marketing managers within country
• Management of promotional spending within the budget set by Country Marketing Manager to support products
• Overall responsibility for creation of all tactical pieces including: Ads, promotions, brochures, flyers, web copy, e-mails and press releases. This may be done in co-ordination with the APM Marketing Communications person within country
• Tradeshow support for product line including literature, promotions, signage, demos, presentations, etc
• Competitive overviews to proactively monitor marketplace –Work with local sales and application staff to ensure that competitive information is fed back to the businesses in a timely way.
• Be responsible for the production (or collation) and distribution of product information, training materials and customer presentations. Examples include: Chinese version of Product Bulletins, local White Papers, FAQs and presentation slides for internal and external use.
• Ensure that marketing receive product related feedback from customers and the field to be passed back to the relevant product groups in Foster City for continued product development opportunities
• Provide local guidance for positioning and identifying target customer, participate in strategic marketing planning for specific product lines particularly for new product introductions or penetration of new market segments.
• Identify new sales opportunities in new applied market such as Pharma QA/QC, food safety on pathogen detection, animal health market and/or biosecurity market.

Product Portfolio Management
• Provide input to annual and monthly product forecast for existing products in conjunction with country sales manager
• Control country product stocking levels where appropriate
• Maintenance of country specific price lists and quote templates
• Responsible for the production (or collation) and distribution of product information, training materials and sales tools. Will frequently work closely with country marketing manager to source relevant material. Examples include: local price lists, cost calculators, sales binders and FAQs, presentations for internal and external use
• Ensure that sales, support and service are kept informed of any technical, or strategic issues that may affect their roles
• Providing Sales with applications advice, ensuring products are targeted appropriately to satisfy customer needs and expectations
• Customer seminars – preparation and/or presentation

Pre-sale Expert
• Assist the pre-sales process by demonstrating the technical advantages of Applied Biosystems products to field staff and customers together with Applications Support Specialists
• Facilitate the advancement of complex sales situations by eliminating technical obstructions that may stall the sales process
• Coordinate with Applications Support Specialists or perform product demonstrations for customers to assist the sales process as appropriate. Can be live or via Webex
• Work with Field Application Specialists and other support staff to ensure the success of User Meetings for major product lines and assist communications both to and within the user base


KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Product and Market Knowledge
  1. Extensive experience and understanding of Applied Biosystems products and how they can be applied in quality safety testing market such as Pharma QA/QC, food pathogen testing and animal health market.

Position Scope:
This role is equally focused on driving excellence in customer applications & technical support for both the pre-sales process and post-sales installation and training
Interacts with Applied Biosystems customers, field sales, sales managers, product marketing and technical support staff
Works closely with customers to identify market opportunities through development and commercialisation of new applications on Applied Biosystems systems

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
