Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
The phylum Proteobacteria was circumscribed for this volume on the basis of phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences. The phylum contains Gram-negative bacteria in the classes Alphaproteobacteria, Betaproteobacteria, Gammaproteobacteria, Deltaproteobacteria, and Epsilonproteobacteria.
