- The dromedary (Camelus dromedarius), also called as Arabian camel. The distinctive feature is “one hump” on its back. It has long, curved neck, narrow chest, and long hairs on the throat, shoulders and hump. It has thick and double-layered eyelashes, bushy eyebrows, small and rounded ears, and hare-lips. The hump is about 20 cm tall or more. The legs are long and powerful and with two toes on each foot. The feet resemble flat, leathery pads. The body of dromedaries is slightly taller and thinner than those of Bactrian camels. The adult male dromedary stands 1.8–2 m at the shoulder, while female is 1.7m - 1.9m tall. Male typically weigh between 400 and 600 kg, and female weigh between 300 kg and 540 kg. The coat is generally brown but can range from black to nearly white.
