Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Motile, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming bacteria. Stain Gram-negative. Mesophilic and strictly anaerobic. Chemoorganotrophs able to grow on Casamino acids, peptone, tryptone and yeast extract. Ferment a few sugars and amino acids. Propionate is formed from peptone-yeast extract broth. No respiratory quinones can be detected. The major fatty acids are iso-C15:0, iso-C15:0 DMA, anteiso-C15:0, C14:0 and C16:0. The major polar lipids are diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylglycerol as well as various unidentified aminoglycolipids, glycolipids and phospholipids. The DNA G+C content of the only known strain is 28.2 mol%.
