Cells are straight rods with a Gram-positive-type cell wall. Terminal spores are formed. Growth is strictly anaerobic. Moderately thermophilic, fermentative member of the domain Bacteria, phylum Firmicutes. Carbohydrates and organic acids serve as fermentable substrates.
