Original Description
expand / minimize
Gram-positive, anaerobic bacteria in the form of short rods; electron-dense. Sulphate, thiosulphate, nitrate, nitrite, FeCl3, fumarate and arsenate are not used as electron acceptors. Sulphite is not normally used even though stimulation of growth and 4-hydroxybenzoate transformation activity at low concentrations (up to 2 mM) has been noted under certain culture conditions.
