Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Gram-stain-negative, but with an atypical Gram-positive structure cell wall. Non-spore-forming, non-motile, straight, thin rods. Obligately anaerobic. Mesophilic and neutrophilic. Cellular fatty acids consist mainly of saturated fatty acids and iso-branched fatty acids, predominantly C14:0, iso-C15:0, C16:0 and iso-C17:1 ω9c. Various mono-, di- and oligosaccharides, including glucose, are fermented. The major end products from glucose are ethanol, acetate, hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
