Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Rod-shaped bacteria. Anaerobic and moderately thermophilic. Neutrophilic. Gram-positive-type cell wall. Grow organotrophically on a number of proteinaceous substrates. Reduce Fe(III), AQDS, thiosulfate, elemental sulfur, fumarate and selenite. Resistant to gamma-radiation at a dose of 5-10 kGy. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of the type species is 33 mol% (Tm).
Emendation
Emendation 1
1: Abilities to form spores and to reduce elemental sulfur, fumarate and selenite are variable.
