Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
In bacterial taxonomy, the epithet 'Amino-' has always been related to amino acid fermentation rather than amine utilization. For the sake of clarity, it would be best if the epithet 'Amino-' is reserved for amino acids rather than being linked with amines. Strictly anaerobic, non-spore-forming, mesophilic, curved rods. Stains Gram-negative. Grows by utilizing amino acids only in the presence of yeast extract. Habitat: anaerobic sludge of a dairy waste-water treatment plant.
