Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Cells are gram-negative vibrios, mesophilic, neutrophilic, and slightly halophilic strict anaerobes that use peptides and amino acids, but not sugars, as the sole carbon and energy sources. The organism uses elemental sulfur and thiosulfate, but not sulfate, as electron acceptors. Growth is inhibited by hydrogen. Cells do not contain cytochrome or desulfoviridin.
