N.L. fem. adj. <i>hongkongensis</i>, pertaining to Hong Kong, the city where the bacterium was discovered.
Ecology
Source
isolated from the sigmoid region of the colon of a patient suffering from active Crohn's disease.
Morphology
Cells are non-moitle, non-spore-forming, coccobacilli arranged in chains. They grow on blood agar as grayish white, non-hemolytic colonies of 0.5 mm in diameter after 48 hours of incubation at 37°C in anaerobic environment.
