Taxol is a widely-applied anticancer drug that effectively inhibits microtubule dynamics in actively replicating cells. Over the decades, elucidation of Taxol biosynthetic pathway and revealing its key enzymatic reaction mechanisms have been an attractive challenge for academia and industry. In order to elucidate the biosynthetic pathways of Taxol and related taxoids and discover missing enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of Taxol and related toxoids, we performed the RNA-seq using Taxus twigs.
