Bacteria of this family are Gram-negative and cells have spiral to vibrioid cell shape. Mesophilic, chemoheterotrophic bacteria with typical marine and moderately halotolerant growth response. Major fatty acids are monounsaturated, even-numbered, straight-chain C18 and C16 fatty acids. The G+C content of the DNA is approximately 50 mol%.
