Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
The order Bdellovibrionales was circumscribed for this volume on the basis of phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA sequences; the order contains the family Bdellovibrionaceae. Description is the same as for the family Bdellovibrionaceae. Type genus: Bdellovibrio.
Emendation
Emendation 1
1: Includes solely the genera Bdellovibrio, Micavibrio and Vampirovibrio, i.e. members of the illegitimate family 'Bdellovibrionaceae'. The description of the order Bdellovibrionales remains as given by Garrity et al. 2006 except for the exclusion of the families Bacteriovoracaceae, Halobacteriovoraceae and Pseudobacteriovoracaceae.
