General information
Description and emendation
Cells are strictly aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped. Oxidase- and catalase-positive. Cell mass is pigmented yellow-orange and flexirubins are synthesized. Cells do not utilize carbohydrate. The cellular fatty acid profiles contain a high proportion of branched saturated fatty acids (mainly iso-C15:0), hydroxy fatty acids (mainly C15:0 2-OH), and saturated fatty acids (C15:0). The DNA G+C content of the type species is 38.1 mol%.
1: Cells are strictly aerobic, Gram-staining-negative rods, motile by gliding. The cell mass is pigmented yellow-orange by flexirubin-type pigments. Oxidase-positive and catalase-positive. Cells do not utilize carbohydrates. Na+ ions are not necessary for growth. The major respiratory quinone is MK-6. The predominant cellular fatty acids are iso-C15:0, C15:0 2-OH, iso-C15:1 G and iso-C17:0 3-OH. The polar lipid pattern comprises phosphatidylethanolamine and several unidentified glycolipids and polar lipids. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of the type species is 38.1 mol%.
