Gram-negative, non-flagellated, non-gliding, short-rod-shaped bacteria. Colonies are white and 2 mm in diameter after growth on LB agar for 48 h at 20°C. Flexirubin-type pigments are not produced. Urease activity is absent. Phosphatidylethanolamine is the typical diagnostic phospholipid. The predominant menaquinone is menaquinone-6. The major fatty acids are iso-C15:0 and iso-C17:0 3-OH. The genomic DNA G+C content of the type species is 38.0 mol%.
