Cells are Gram-stain negative, motile, spherical and strictly aerobic. Endospores are not formed. Catalase-negative and oxidase-negative. Flexirubin-type pigments are absent. The major respiratory quinone is menaquinone 6 (MK-6). The predominant cellular fatty acids are iso-C15:0 and iso-C17:0 3-OH as identified by the MIDI system. The DNA G+C content of the type species is 41±1.4 mol%.
