Cells are aerobic, Gram-staining negative, non-motile, catalase-positive and oxidase-negative rods. The non-diffusible pigment is not of the flexirubin-type. Nitrate is reduced to nitrite. The predominant respiratory quinone is MK-6. The predominant fatty acids (>10%) are iso-C15:0 and iso-C17:1 ω9c.
