Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Gram-reaction-negative, catalase-positive and strictly aerobic. Cells are rods with rounded ends; motile by gliding. Spores are not formed. Requires sea salts but not yeast extract for growth. Produces acid from carbohydrates. The major isoprenoid quinone is menaquinone 6 (MK-6). The major polar lipids are PE and a varying number of unidentified amino-group-containing lipids, phospholipids and unidentified lipids. The predominant cellular fatty acids are iso-C15:0, iso-C15:1 G, iso-C17:0 3-OH, iso-C15:0 3-OH and C15:0. The DNA G+C content is 27-33 mol%.
Emendation
Emendation 1
1: Cells are catalase-negative. Starch can be degraded by cells. The major polar lipids are phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminolipid and four unidentified polar lipids.
