Cells are Gram-stain-negative, aerobic and oxidase- and catalase-negative. Gliding motility is not observed. Sea salts are required for growth. The major polar lipids are lysylphosphatidylglycerol, diglucosyl diacylglycerol, two unidentified phospholipids, one unidentified glycolipid and two unidentified polar lipids.
