Cells are Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic rods with gliding motility and are devoid of flagella. Oxidase- and catalase-positive. MK-6 is the only isoprenoid quinone. The major fatty acids are iso-C15:0 G, iso-C15:0 and iso-C15:0 3-OH. Cells produce yellow and orange carotenoid pigments, but flexirubin pigments are not present. The DNA G+C content of the type species is 34.8 mol%.
