Rod-shaped cells. Gram-negative. Do not form endospores. Motile by gliding. Strictly aerobic. Produce non-diffusible yellow-orange pigments. No flexirubins are formed. Chemoorganotrophs. Cytochrome oxidase, catalase and alkaline phosphatase are positive. The major respiratory quinone is MK-6. The main cellular fatty acids are straight-chain unsaturated and branched-chain unsaturated fatty acids i-C15:0, α-C15:0, i-C15:1, i-C16:1, i-C16:0, i-C16:0 3-OH, i-C17:1 ω9c, i-C17:0 3-OH and summed feature 3, consisting of i-C15:0 2-OH and/or C16:1 ω7c. The DNA G+C content of the type species is 35.5 mol%.
