Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Rod-shaped, non-motile cells. Gram-negative. Endospores are not formed. Na+ ions are required for growth. Strictly aerobic. Non-diffusible, yellow-orange pigments are produced. Flexirubins are formed. Chemoorganotrophic. Cytochrome oxidase, catalase and alkaline phosphatase are positive. Major respiratory quinone is MK-6. Main cellular fatty acids are the straight- and branched-chain unsaturated fatty acids iso-C15:0, iso-C15:1, iso-C16:0 3-OH and iso-C17:0 3-OH. The DNA G+C content of the type species is 36.7–38.0 mol%.
