Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Cells are Gram-staining positive, spore-forming, non-motile, straight to curved rods. Negative for catalase and oxidase. Thermophilic. Neutrophilic, with a pH range for growth of approx. pH 5-9. Cellular fatty acids are composed mainly of 15- and 17-carbon-containing saturated, branched fatty acids (iso-C17:0, iso-C15:0 and anteiso-C17:0). The peptidoglycan type is A1γ. Obligately anaerobic chemoorganotrophs.
Emendation
Emendation 1
1: Abilities to form spores and to reduce mannitol are variable.
