Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Cells are nonsporeforming rods. Cells stain gram negative but have an atypical gram-negative wall structure. Chemoorganotrophs. ferment carbohydrates, producing acetate and sometimes other volatile acids. Ferment yeast extract, producing acetate and several volatile acids. At slower growth rates produce acetate from H2 and CO2; may require yeast extract for growth. Obligately anaerobic.
