Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Obligately or facultatively anaerobic, Gram-stain-positive cocci or filamentous rods. Catalase-negative or occasionally weakly positive. Species of the genus Filifactor are endospore-forming. Family Peptostreptococcaceae contains the type genus Peptostreptococcus, Filifactor, and Tepidibacter. According to the 16S rRNA phylogenetic analysis presented in the roadmap to this volume, the genus the family Peptostreptococcaceae is in order Clostridiales, class Clostridia in the phylum Firmicutes. DNA G+C content (mol%): 28-43.
