Description and emendation
Original Description
expand / minimize
Cells are non-sporeforming, Gram-negative non-motile rods, forming rosettes, multiplying by binary fission. Strictly aerobic moderately halophilic obligately methylotrophic bacteria. Assimilate C1 compounds via the serine pathway. Do not grow on methane. Catalase and oxidase positive. Do not grow on TGY, LB or nutrient media. Accumulate intracellulary PHB and at NaCl concentration above 3% - compatible solute ectoine. The dominant respiratory quinone is Q-10. The major cellular acids are C18:1 ω7c and C19:0 cyc. The predominant phospholipids are phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidyldimethylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylcholine. The range of G+C content of the DNAs are 60-61 mol%.
