Original Description
expand / minimize
Cells are Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, encapsulated, microaerophilic and non-motile with variable morphological forms. The major fatty acid components of all strains examined are 12:0, 14:0, 16:0, 16:1ω7c, 16:1ω5c, 16:0 3-OH and summed features 3 and 7. The DNA base composition is about 42-43 mol% G+C and the type species is Pelistega europaea sp. nov. Four genomovars and several strains with separate taxonomic positions are delineated, all of which are presently included in a single nomenspecies, P. europaea. Strain LMG 10982T, the reference strain of genomovar 1, was chosen as the type strain of the species; strains LMG 15725, LMG 11609 and LMG 12985 are reference strains for genomovars 2, 3 and 4, respectively.
