Cells are Gram-stain-negative, non-motile short rods. Aerobic. Oxidase- and catalase-positive. The respiratory quinone is Q-8 (no other quinones are detected). The major cellular fatty acids are C16:1 ω7c, C16:0, cyclo C17:0 and C18:1 ω7c. Polar lipids are phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and an unknown phospholipid.
