Etymology
L. fem. adj. <i>marina</i>, belonging to the sea, marine.
Ecology
Source
isolated from a red marine alga (Chondrus ocellatus Holmes) at the rocky shore of Awaji Island, Hyogo, Japan.
Morphology
Cells are non-motile, non-endospore-forming rods (0.4-0.5 × 2.5-3.5 µm), and lack flagella. Colonies grown on marine agar 2216 are circular, shiny with entire edges and pale-yellow pigmented after 3 days of incubation at 28°C.
