isolated from a seawater sample collected on the Pacific coastline of Japan near Kamakura City (Fujisawa, Kanagawa).
Morphology
Cells are non-spore-forming rods (0.3-0.4 × 0.75-5.3 µm), growing singly, in pairs or short chains, and motile by gliding; some cells show the presence of vesicle-like microstructures and can be connected by thread-like structures. Colonies on marine agar are circular, convex, smooth and contain non-diffusible yellow carotenoid pigments with zeaxanthin as the major component.
