Etymology
L. n. <i>anas</i> -<i>atis</i>, duck; L. adj. <i>pestifer</i>, that brings destruction, noxious, pernicious; N.L. n. <i>anatipestifer</i>, one who brings destruction of ducks.

Source
isolated from ducks, geese, turkeys, and waterfowl with septicemic disease.
Morphology
Cells are non-motile, non-spore-forming rods (0.2-0.5 × 1.0-2.5 µm) occur singly, in pairs, or in short chains. Colonies are smooth and nonpigmented or grayish-white to beige.
