Etymology
Gr. n. <i>amulon</i>, starch; N.L. adj. <i>lyticus</i> -<i>a</i> -<i>um</i> (from Gr. adj. <i>lutikos</i> -<i>ê</i> -<i>on</i>), able to loosen, able to dissolve; N.L. fem. adj. <i>amylolytica</i>, dissolving starch, pertaining to the ability of the bacterium to hydrolyse starch.

isolated from a sediment sample from the South China Sea, China.
Morphology
Cells are non-motile, non-spore-forming, rods (0.25-0.3 × 1.3-3.0 µm). Colonies on MA are circular, slightly raised, smooth, yellow to pale-yellow in colour and 2.0-3.0 mm in diameter after incubation for 2 days at 30°C.
