Etymology
N.L. gen. <i>regensburgei</i>, of Regensburg, Germany, where the type strain of <i>Yokenella regensburgei</i> and five other strains in the original paper (Kosako <i>et al.</i>, 1984) were isolated from insects.
Ecology
Source
isolated from human clinical specimens (blood, urine, feces, throat and sputum, wounds, abscess, and others), insect intestines, and well water. The type strains was isolated from the intestine of an insect (Pyrrhocoris apterus) in Regensburg, Germany.
Morphology
Cells are non-spore-forming rods and motile, with peritrichous flagella.
