Etymology
N.L. n. <i>lindanun</i>, lindane, French commercial name of γ-HCH; N.L. adj. <i>clasticus</i> -<i>a</i> -<i>um</i> (from Gr. adj. <i>klastos</i> -<i>ê</i> -<i>on</i>, broken in pieces), breaking; N.L. masc. adj. <i>lindaniclasticus</i>, lindane-breaking.
Ecology
Source
isolated from a soil sampled from a wood treatment site and was enriched by keeping it for over 18 months in a flask containing only lindane as a carbon source.
Morphology
Cells are non-spore-forming, non-motile rods. No ramification occurs. Yellow colonies of diameter 0-2-1 mm with clean edges on SMA agar plates after 3 d at 30°C.
