Welcome to dbDEMC
dbDEMC (database of Differentially Expressed MiRNAs in human Cancers) is an integrated database that designed to store and display differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) in cancers detected by high-throughput and low-throughput methods. In this updated version, dbDEMC extend the cancer related miRNA data to other model organisms including mouse and rat, we collected a total of 403 miRNA expression data sets, which based on platforms of microarray or miRNA-seq, from public repositories including Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), Sequence Read Archive (SRA), ArrayExpress and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The differentially expressed miRNAs were then identified and displayed for 9 different types of experiments. This current version contains 3,268 differentially expressed miRNAs from 40 cancer types, whereas for human, a total of 2,584 differentially expressed miRNA were included. For each differentially expressed miRNA set, we also collected the experimentally validated targets from public databases and constructed the miRNA regulatory network. A gene set enrichment analysis was used to investigate the functions of the differentially expressed miRNAs. Enhanced web page for visualization of the data and also several other improved or novel features were provided in the database for much easier to use. dbDEMC will continue to play an important role in cancer research.
