Original Description
expand / minimize
The order Campylobacterales was circumscribed for this volume on the basis of phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA sequences; the order contains the families Campylobacteraceae, Helicobacteraceae, and 'Nautiliaceae'. Actively growing cells generally curved or spiral-shaped, except for Thiovulum. Metabolically and ecologically diverse; includes human and animal pathogens. Nautilia and Caminibacter are anaerobic marine thermophiles.
