Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, chemoheterotrophic and aerobic. Does not show gliding motility. Carotenoid pigments are present, but flexirubin pigments are absent. The respiratory quinone is MK-6. The polar lipids constitute phosphatidylethanolamine, unknown aminolipids and unknown lipids. Major cellular fatty acids are branched fatty acids (iso-C15:1 G, iso-C15:0). The DNA G+C content of the type species is 34.8 mol%.
