General information
Description and emendation
Cells are Gram-negative, non-spore-forming and rod-shaped. Strictly aerobic. Motile by means of polar peritrichous flagella. Catalase- and oxidase-positive. Urease-negative. The predominant ubiquinone is Q-8. The major fatty acids are iso-C17:1 ω9c, iso-C17:0 and iso-C15:0. Major polar lipids are diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and an amino-group-containing lipid that is ninhydrin-positive. The DNA G+C content is 71.0 mol%.
1: Cells are non-motile or motile by means of polar peritrichous flagella.
2: Oxidase-negative or -positive. Phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine is a polar lipid.
3: Strains show variable catalase and oxidase activities. All are positive for gelatinase and negative for urease activity, indole production and D-glucose acidification. The major fatty acids (>5%) in the type species are C16:0, iso-C15:0, iso-C16:0, iso-C17:0, anteiso-C17:0, iso-C17:1 ω9c and iso-C11:0 3-OH. Polar lipids in the type species are DPG, PG, PME, PE, one unidentified phospholipid and two unidentified aminophospholipids. The major polyamine is spermidine.
