L. masc. adj. <i>latericius</i>, made or consisting of bricks, here pertaining to the dark orange pigmentation.
Ecology
Source
isolated from the marine environment (sandy sediments, holothurian, brown alga).
Morphology
Cells are non-motile rods (0.4-0.6 × 3-5 µm) with pearled or slightly irregular sides and rounded ends. Colonies are circular, low convex, shiny with entire edges on solid media containing high nutrient components. Colonies are dark orange in colour because of non-diffusible carotenoid pigments.
