Etymology
N.L. fem. adj. <i>youngheungensis</i>, belonging to Youngheung Island, Korea, where the type strain was isolated.

Source
isolated from tidal flat sediment of Yeongheung Island at the coast of the West Sea, Korea.
Morphology
Cells are non-gliding rods (0.3-0.4 × 1.5-2.0 µm), and contain proteorhodopsin. Colonies grown on MA are yellow, convex, and circular with entire margins.
