All included subjects were 18 years old or older, had plaque psoriasis, were not pregnant and did not have other skin diseases, neoplasms nor systemic inflammatory diseases (such as Crohn disease, inflammatory bowel disease, vasculitis and sarcoidosis). Patients of both sexes were included in both groups. All participants who consented and met the eligibility criteria were allocated to either group following a 1:1 ratio, via permuted-block randomization (with blocks of different sizes). The experimental group was composed of 50 subjects, which consumed 5mL of a Lactobacillus rhamnosus formula on a daily basis for 6 months. The control group was composed of 53 subjects, which consumed 5mL of a placebo formula on a daily basis for 6 months. As to preserve blinding, probiotics and placebo vials looked exactly the same.;G07.203.300.456.500 |
