Interventions Group 1: Receives access to a non-public Instagram account for a duration of 5 weeks (29.06.-31.07.) on which patient educational content is shared via the Instagram story function. The content of the patient education is drawn from the literature. The patient education is edited with visual elements that are common for Instagram (e. g., quizes, pictures/graphics on which anatoimical structures are affected etc.). Each week three stories are published. The participants are surveyed before and after the intervention of 5 weeks with the IBD-know questionnaire (Yoon et al., 2019) regarding their level of knowledge on inflammatory bowel disease. Group 2: Does not receive patient education via Instagram. Arm 2 (control group) is surveyed before and after the intervention on their knowledge on inflammatory bowel disease. There is no further interaction between both measurements. After the end of the study, the control group receives all patient education documents.
