ID:S06
Therapeutic Strategy:Anti-fibrosis
Synonyms:fibrosis; tissue remodelling
Related Targets:MMPs; myosin light chain kinase (MLCK); humanized monoclonal antibody GS-5745; CHST15; small-interfering RNA (siRNA)
Related Drugs:GS-5745; STNM01
Mechanism:Tissue remodelling and destruction in patients with IBD is controlled by MMPs. In this context, expression of MMP9 was found to be increased in IBD, particularly in patients with ulcerative colitis. Functional data in experimental models of inflammation have suggested an important role of MMP9 in impairing colonic epithelial permeability and augmenting inflammation via activation of myosin light chain kinase (MLCK)
