Abstract: | Transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2 (TM6SF2) is a recently discovered gene, which is located on the chromosome 19 (19p12) and encodes a protein consisting of 351 amino acids. Presently, many studies have reported that the single-nucleotide polymorphism of TM6SF2 rs58542926 and plasma lipids are closely related to the incidence and development of diseases, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), cardiovascular disease (CVD), liver cancer, and hepatitis C. This review will summarize the research progress conducted in these areas. |
