Title: Population-Based Trends in Prevalence of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in US Adults With Type 2 Diabetes.
Abstract: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) affects more than 9% of U.S. adults.1 Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has been recognized as a common co-morbidity in T2D. However, most previous epidemiologic studies have been subject to ascertainment and selection bias or had small sample sizes. No recent studies have examined trends of the burden of NAFLD in diabetic patients. Using noninvasive scores and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), we aimed to estimate the population-based trends in prevalence of NAFLD-associated comorbidities in U.S. adults with T2D.
