Title: [Parietal surgery in the cirrhotic patient. A litterature review].
Abstract: The prevalence of liver cirrhosis progresses due to an increased occurrence of hepatitis C viral infection and of Non Alcoholic SteatoHepatopathy (NASH) related to the metabolic syndrome. Cirrhosis is a known risk factor for the development of hernia. The peri-operative morbidity and mortality after abdominal wall surgery is higher in the cirrhotic patient because of postoperative organ failure. The optimal timing for surgery and the method of repair remain controversial, but growing evidence orientates towards elective rather than emergency treatment regardless of the Child-Pugh score.
