Title: | [Nonalcoholic fatty liver: does it have to be biopsed?]. |
Abstract: | Obesity becomes more and more frequent in world population. Because of its epidemic nature, it will become a major cause of liver diseases in the near future. Despite the fact that medical doctors are conscious of it, the majority are questioned themselves when they are confronted to the increasing flux of patients presenting hepatic steatosis. All patients will not have concurrently a steatohepatitis or will evolve towards cirrhosis or will need a liver biopsy. But when we have to identify the criteria associated to high probability of steatohepatitis or fibrosis in the population with hyperecogenic liver, no clinical score or blood tests, actually studied, are validated with enough certainty for predicting which patient is at risk in the context of hepatic steatosis. |
